It’s time, we’ve done it, the skoolie is ready (ok, almost ready), and we’re hitting the road to travel again.
We couldn’t be more excited to be setting out on more adventures. All of our travels so far, both to other countries and here in the U.S. have been nothing but memory filled.
We’ve had amazing times exploring places, meeting new people, learning about history, and getting immersed in new cultures.
I’ve heard people say they “caught the travelling bug”. And it’s true, once you start travelling, you don’t want to stop. You want to see more and more of this beautiful earth.
Europe
I still remember being in aww when we where in Athens, Greece. I could not believe that we had just been transported by a plane and were now standing amongst ancient ruins. It is still incredible to think about even as I write this.
Ancient Athens was something we had read about in books and seen in movies, but to be there in person, wow! Physically being there with my family and with our feet on the ground! Un-real!
And really that was the feeling the whole time we were in Europe. It didn’t matter what country we were in. The thought of ancient life juxtaposing against modern life right in front of us, was crazy.
Can you imagine all the conversations we had as a family?! Well, let me just tell you, we had a lot!
We were all seeing and learning so much that sometimes it felt like our heads were going to explode. And then (for me) maybe even my heart as well because I was just so happy that my kids could be experiencing this life in this capacity.
I am so happy that my husband and I have been able to give them this gift of travel.
Comfort Zones
It’s been rewarding for all of us to break out of our comfort zones, do new things and make connections with strangers.
We have all found that no matter where we are in the world, that there’s more good people than bad. No matter what county or even state your from, people have more things in common with each other than not.
We will never forget all the wonderful memories we have made (and will make) through travel.
From in depth conversations with a store owner (we frequented the store a lot), or small conversations with locals. From the dinners that were given to us or shared in some ones house. Or the conversations that happened right in our campground that led us to new and otherwise unknown destinations.
We have been cared for by some amazing Airbnb host, done crazy underground tours, seen a magnificent castle built right into the side of a mountain, slept on tropical beaches, and so, so, so much more.
Doing more travel
I hope you’re starting to see why we are so excited to be travelling again.
We can’t wait to gather more experiences and live life to the fullest.
Here’s to hoping we continue to receive the generosity of others and continue a mutual exchange between places and people.
